Our story

A true family business

In 1999, Argentine Guillermo Mellicovsky started a juice bar on this very spot. In 2003 he opened Melly's Cookiebar, one of the first espresso bars in Amsterdam, pairing Italian-roasted coffee with Argentine alfajores, dulce de leche and yerba mate. To get the recipes right he turned to his sister Rita, who had long sold her home-made pastries back in Argentina.

When his nephew Daniel took over in 2015, Rita came to Amsterdam for a few weeks to teach him every recipe by hand. Two generations on, we still bake cookies, alfajores and cakes by hand, every day in the heart of Amsterdam.

Where can I buy fresh cookies in Amsterdam?

You can buy our freshly baked cookies at Melly's Cookiebar, Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 137, in the centre of Amsterdam. We bake throughout the day, every day from 8:30 to 19:00.

Do you have vegan cookies?

Yes. Our Vegan Sea Salt cookie is dairy-free and egg-free, baked fresh alongside our classic koekjes, so there is something for everyone.

What else do you bake besides cookies?

We also make handmade Argentine alfajores, dulce de leche, fresh cakes to order and serve Italian-roasted specialty coffee, all in the heart of Amsterdam since 2003.
